Day 19: Living for the Great Commission

Scripture

Matthew 28:19-20“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

Prayer Prompt

“Lord, You have given us the Great Commission to go and make disciples of all nations, and I want to live my life in obedience to that call. Fill my heart with a deep passion for those who don’t yet know You and give me the boldness to share the message of Your love and salvation. Help me to live every day with purpose, whether in my home, my workplace, or the world, making disciples through my actions, my words, and my example. Empower me with Your Spirit to teach others to follow You, baptize them in Your name, and remind them of Your eternal presence. I commit myself to Your mission and ask that You guide me every step of the way.”

Reflection

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey His commands. This great commission is not just a call to missionaries, but to all believers—it's a call to live intentionally for God's mission wherever we are. Today, reflect on how you can actively participate in the spreading of the gospel, whether through personal relationships, serving others, or sharing your faith in your everyday interactions. Consider how your life can reflect the love and truth of Christ, and pray for opportunities to be a witness to those around you. Remember, you are not alone in this mission; Jesus promises to be with us always, empowering and guiding us in every step!

Application

We all know people who have yet to experience the transforming love of Jesus Christ. One powerful way to stay focused on their salvation is to actively pray for them, crying out to God on their behalf.

Start by making a list of at least five people you know who are in this category—people you interact with regularly. Keep the list to ten or fewer, and ask God to guide you in identifying those who should be included. Once your list is ready, lift their names to God in prayer, specifically praying the following Scriptures over them:

  • 1 Thessalonians 1:5-7, 9

  • 2 Corinthians 4:3-4

  • Romans 10:9-10, 13-14

  • Acts 2:37-38

  • John 1:12; 3:16

  • Revelation 3:20

Feel free to add any other verses that come to mind. As you pray, imagine yourself sharing the love of Christ with them, and ask God to open their hearts to His truth. Keep this list close, and make it a point to pray for these individuals regularly, trusting that God is at work in their lives.
