Questions about baptism?
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” –Matthew 28:19-20
What is water baptism?
Water baptism signifies death to an old way of life and the start of a brand new one. It's an outward sign of your inward relationship with God signifying your acceptance of Jesus' death and resurrection! We believe every follower of Jesus should be water baptized.
When can I be baptized?
We provide the opportunity to follow Jesus in water baptism several times throughout the year at the RLC office!
Can my friends and family attend?
Absolutely! Your friends and family are welcome to celebrate your baptism with you!
Can my child be baptized?
We advise parents to wait until their child is asking to be water baptized. This is usually a good indication that they are ready to be baptized and that it will be a spiritual milestone in their life. While younger children can have a relationship with Jesus, they will not necessarily remember or understand the significance of the event, so we encourage parents to wait for baptism until they are in the second grade or older. Due to baptism being a submersion in water, it’s imperative that your child be mature enough to not be fearful of baptism and to also know what it means to be baptized!
What can I expect at the actual water baptism event?
Water baptisms at RLC are an event! We want to celebrate this step with you, and we invite you to bring your friends and family to join in, take photos & enjoy the evening. We also have light refreshments for you and your family! We’ll start with a song, then a pastor will welcome everyone, and then the baptism begins. After all baptisms are over, we’ll end with another song and close the evening. The entire event is usually no more than 30 minutes.
Will clothing be provided?
Each person that is registered to be baptized will receive a t-shirt upon check-in. Please come prepared with whatever other clothing you may need. We will also provide towels.
