RLC Lubbock - Youth Pastor
Job Location: Renew Life Church, Lubbock, Texas
Reports To: RLC Lubbock Campus Pastor
Position Status: Part-Time (20 hours/week), Non Exempt, Hourly
Weekly Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, & Sunday.
Position Overview
The role of the Youth Pastor (YP) is to oversee the youth ministry strategy of Renew Life Church under the direction and leadership of the Lubbock Campus Pastor & Youth Director. This will require a firm grasp of the beliefs, values and strategy of Renew Life Church and the ability to align staff and key leadership teams with its mission, vision and values. The YP will partner with parents to lead students to a genuine sense of belonging, involvement and spiritual growth at Renew Life Church by meeting students where they are and leading to next steps. The YP will facilitate relational connection and spiritual growth of students through weekly environments, small groups, and volunteer teams.
The Youth Pastor will be responsible for the following:
1. Model Biblical Priorities
Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Renew Life Church. The YP should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The YP models a strong relationship with his or her spouse and children (if applicable). The YP strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions. The objectives are accomplished by:
Committing to a regular quiet-time with God.
Attending a Renew Life Church weekend service on a regular basis.
Setting appropriate boundaries with time and relationships to protect character and integrity.
Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Renew Life Church employees, as defined by the Staff Handbook.
2. Leadership of Staff and Volunteer Teams
Success in this role will be best accomplished by prioritizing an investment in ministry leaders who, in turn, influence the students. Responsible for creating an environment that recruits, develops and empowers youth ministry leaders:
Communicating clear vision and defined ministry wins for staff and volunteer teams on a regular basis.
Building systems and structures that lead people from being spectators to volunteers.
Build a cohesive leadership team by recruiting, training developing, pastoring, retaining and giving leaders opportunities and feedback.
Leading staff and volunteer meetings
Championing the youth ministry leadership development strategy.
Providing centralized efforts for training leaders (retreats, tools, etc.)
Providing staff and volunteer teams with current youth ministry best practices.
Ensuring that the youth ministry team answers questions and provides remarkable service to parents and students on a consistent basis.
Providing regular evaluations and feedback for team members.
Creating and continuously improving follow-up methods to ensure that new families and their students are plugged in to Renew Life Church.
Managing budget forecasts and expenses for team leaders.
3. Oversight and Execution of Weekly Environments
Responsible for creating programs that provide engaging experiences and life-changing environments for students:
Providing insight and direction for big picture programming and creative planning processes.
Create an excellent student service by creating an environment with music, games and entertainment.
Responsible for programming services for junior and high school students, implementing worship, interactions, transitions, video elements, message, live speaking, leading through offering and small groups
Provide leadership on the weekends by plugging students into serving opportunities and any extra pastoral needs, as well as connecting with families.
Follow up with students, leaders, parents, and individuals who attended for the first time, made decisions for Christ, took a next step or show an interest in serving.
Do quarterly budgeting, event planning (After Parties, Student Camps, Leader Retreat, Student Leader Retreat) and organize RLYTH training events.
4. Oversight and Execution of Small Groups
Constructs practical onramps and systems to help students move from visiting to belonging and growing:
Developing a systematic and effective effort to integrate student small groups into weekly environments.
Overseeing information and tracking of small group participants and leaders.
Actively encouraging small group leaders to connect with families and students during the week.
Providing opportunities for students to discover their unique purpose and begin developing their talents and abilities.
Offering small group leaders curriculum, coaching materials and creative approaches to small group ministry.
Implementing a strategy to equip parents to help their students take their next steps toward Christ.
Execute student outreach efforts at Renew Life Church.
5. Qualifications
Abilities:
Ability to develop adults and students to assume leadership roles.
Ability to relate to others, including adult leaders and the youth.

Take initiative and jump headfirst into a fast paced, evolving ministry environment.
Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of office equipment and software use.
Solid understanding of the Bible
Basic understanding of student ministry.
